ARTISTHEAD: Offering Business Resources to Empower Musicians
Back
Music Industry Examiner
Alison Richter -
As a musician, songwriter, performer and recording artist, Robe Williams has seen the good, the bad and the ugly of the music industry. Never losing faith in the good, but frustrated by the bad, he decided to do something about it: he founded Artisthead, a musicians’ resource company that offers guidance and assistance in every area of the music business.
Williams assembled a team of professionals to advise, consult, report, write, and assist musicians. The company launched in September 2010, and has since expanded to major markets across the U.S., growing its services to meet the needs of all musicians, from novice to professional.
In this interview, Robe Williams discusses why it is critical for musicians to take control of their careers and protect themselves in the constantly shifting digital music paradigm.
Let’s begin by introducing readers to Artisthead: an overview of what your company does and what it offers.
Artisthead is a resource that connects the various components of the music business in one place for artists to manage and advance their careers. We offer career guidance, artist development, production and technical assistance, copyright, trademark, licensing, distribution, product creation, booking services, marketing and branding, PR, legal and accounting services, and ongoing label and business management.
As a musician, what did you feel was lacking in terms of industry resources, and how did you develop a business model to implement necessary structures in order to resolve some of these issues?
